Oak Country Reproduction Furniture
Oak Country is a high quality solid oak reproduction furniture range. The furniture is hand crafted to produce faithful reproductions of fine 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th Century pieces. As many traditional methods as possible are used whilst ensuring the products are made to withstand modern day living conditions. A piece of Oak Country reproduction furniture looks just as remarkable as any original, whether it is situated in an 18th Century mansion or a modern penthouse apartment. All the oak timber is kiln dried to keep moisture content down to a minimum. All turnings and detailed carvings are meticulously and painstakingly worked by hand by highly skilled craftspeople, ensuring the originality of each piece. The furniture is hand finished with patina and medium oak stain.
The Oak Country Ingram Chair is a reproduction of the 20th century design classic by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The original chair was designed for the Argyle Street Tea Rooms in Glasgow circa 1900. Mackintosh was a leading figure in the Scottish Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movement, and a major influence on the Art Deco movement. Drawing on Celtic and Japanese influences, the Mackintosh furniture has a startling modernity yet remains rooted in traditional origins.
The Ingram chair is characterised by a tall straight back rest with a hand-hole in the top rail and a distinctive series of pierced squares in the back slats. The chair features double stretcher rods between the front and back legs, and is furnished with an upholstered seat. The design of the Ingram chair suits a dining table with simple clean lines such as the Oak Country Taper Leg Table.
Because the Ingram Chair is a classic piece of modern furniture its has less patina resulting in a lighter appearance than the traditional pieces in the Oak Country range.
